Another image of the same Confederate Veteran that I posted a few days ago.
In this image, he is shown wearing a 75th Gettysburg Reunion and also a badge for the 1937 UCV Reunion in Jackson, MS.

Looks like a bad cataract in his left eye.
All decked out in this shot! Maybe a professional veteran?
Thanks amber-- I didn't notice at first, but he definitely looks to have an eye issue.

I found a photo with someone who might be him:
Col. J. R. Newsome of Featherstone's Mississippi Brigade.

The glasses and jaw line look the same.
If it is Col. J. R. Newsome then here are some references:
Four of the seven surviving Confederate veterans living in Shelby County will gather at Tech High today to pay tribute to Gen. Robert E. Lee on the 131st anniversary of his birth. Attending the ceremonies will be Gen. R.E. Bullington, 283 North Bellevue, Col. John F. Gunter, 1003 Blythe, Col. J.R. Newsome, 307 East McLemore, and the Rev. R.P. Smith, 401 Alexander.

During the interim, Col. J. R. Newsome, candidate for Congress, addressed an audience of about two hundred.

Great Vetra! You do your homework.
OMG Amber Rose you are so funny! Then I looked at it and it looks like a glass eye!
Thanks much vetraio-- I appreciate all of you efforts and help. I don't believe Newsome is the guy.
I have others pictures with him wearing a "J.A. Yeager, Camp #1687" ribbon. The "Camp" was a grouping or lodge within the UCV, and the Yeager Camp was in OK City, Oklahoma.
