On Marco Island, Florida, there is a little second hand store run by a local church. If one doesn't pay good attention, it looks almost like a boutique - LOL. I didn't find any antiques, and most items were too new for me but this candy dish got my attention. I believe that it is hand-painted and might be a vintage item, made in the USA.
One of my daughters has white bedroom furniture and I think this candy dish will look great in her room and it can double as a jewelry box:)
Thanks for looking:)
Thanks a lot, aghcollect:)
it's a Westmoreland Glass 'Roses and Bows' wedding box. The lid is deigned so that the pedestal of the 'box' can sit upon it (as the lid finial fits up into the pedestal). Wedding cake can then be placed/displayed in the 'box'. Check for the WG mark on the underside of the foot.
Thanks so much, TallCakes. How interesting your explanation is! I will check out the wedding box for the mark.
here is one at eBay with the little brochure that shows how it may be used:

I gifted one of these may years ago to a special friend as a wedding gift; it also had the brochure with it at the time.
Cool!!!
