This beautiful Bay gas sign came from a Collector in Evanston Wyoming, but we don't have any history on the Bay Oil Co? Can anyone give me a history of where this Company was and what happened to it? You can see this sign along with a lot of other beautiful signs and pumps at Lakeside Storage in Provo Ut at our free museum.

We learned that Bay Oil Company was formed in the USA in 1926 by the famous Canadian Hudson Bay Fur Trading Company. It soon merged with the Maryland Oil Co which merged with Conoco in 1929. The oil seemed to have come from Canada and was shipped by pipeline to Billings Montana where they had a refinery. Big fish eat little fish once more! We aren't sure how long Bay actually sold gas under the name Bay but the company still seemed to exist in to the mid 80's from what we can find. There are very few Bay signs around and the Shield shape of them makes them very desirable. They look awesome on a pole!
