I was given this old fishing pole by my father in law. He said his uncle was given this pole when he was a young man then past it to my father in law. He said it was early 1900's. The rod is 100% wood other than two connector points that are made of brass. It also has double sided guides that was used for once one side started to bend to much you would use the other side to straightn it up. It also seems to have a very small Eagle or something like that on it. Does anyone have any idea what year it maybe or a maker? Thanks for looking.

i've been researching an interesting old rod i found recently and from my research i think you have a Fishing Eagle bamboo rod. they look like wood, but if it has six, flat sides [which it appears to in your photos] it is made of bamboo. have you found out anything else about your rod?

I agree with it being bamboo and it is also in really bad shape. The condition is what your value is going to be based on. It can probably be rebuilt and the eyes retied but cost is a major factor. The condition it is in isn't to good, I would do lots of homework before deciding what to do with it. Age isn't always a factor with old rods, some have value but most don't.
