Hello, I'm just sending this to see if anybody has any idea what this is??
It was bought with a bunch of other tools at an auction in MO.
It stands about 4' tall, and the top actually turns.
I've asked everybody I know and it's people who have been going to auctions, flea marks, barn sales and the like all over the US all their lives.
Sorry but this is the only information I have and thank you for your time.
I'm hoping somebody knows what this is, we're all very curious.
    Thank you, Terese

Not exactly. Clinkers are conglomerations of impurities like iron, silica, and rocky contaminants that are naturally trapped in the coal. When they melt together, they can become a molten blob that can stick to and clog the furnace grate, impeding the airflow which is vital to proper operation of a furnace. Pulling out the clinkers can prevent costly downtime to clean and repair the furnace.
