Friend of mine collects "arns" & I think they are cool & very interesting. We don't live in "McDonald's Land" so may not get much help. The 1st is obviously some kind of steam iron. The 2nd is some kind of early elec. iron that appears to be 220v & the last is whatever. He has a collection if people show an interest.
Hey, only had pics of 3 irons, so threw in a pic of feeding time at the Dingy Dock. See how good you are. I counted at least 5 more in the mangroves after taking the pic.. See absolutely no category for these!! Staff will change it anyway.
love that people add funny diferent things when they only have three pics of their item. after all this site is for shareing things you like. catagor could be animals for the animals.
Thanks Rip. Your a wealth on info. on this sort of thing. That 1st one just had a European look to me. I'll pass the info. Thanks.
Is the canister for fuel or water as I didn't see an elec. hookup. If you know?
LOVE IT!!! VERY COOL :)
Found it Rip!
Sean, if it is cool, that means it's out of fuel.
Val, you lost an interesting part of history, but it happens all the time. Rip, that's interesting that it uses naptha. My "wipe" of choice before painting because it leaves no residue. Haven't seen it here for about 3 yrs & the idiots in the stores don't even know what you are asking for without writing it out, and still don't know. Lighter fluid is naptha, but & not going to pay, maybe 15-20, for it per liter!! A shame.
Nice collection!
Spunky, Claudie has lots more in his collection & I just threw these in to see if anybody had an interest? He knows nothing about computers (1 step behind me) & has a lot in his collection. Still undecided about posting more. Have Ripley's info to pass on to him & know he will love to know.
That first one looks familiar. Saw 4 like it at an antique store in Oatman, Az yesterday. Which is odd as I don't see many of them. That 3rd one is something I need to get sometime. In the meantime....
Tools and Hardware>Sad and Flat Irons
Fortapache, Claudie has an antique shop but these irons are his personal collection but I get the feeling that even that can be bought. Just stating my impression. I wrote down Rip's info, took 5 tokes for my Sunday "Tour de St. Maarten/St Martin & completely forgot what I was supposed to do! C'est la vive! Actually forgot where I was 57 times. Girlfriend's B'day week-end has totally worn me out! Probably should stay away from planes tomorrow too! Seldom, I'm a wise man!
I love that first one with the resovoir. Great color and patina.
Hello Sweet. Hope you are well. Suffering on the beach still? Still freezing here
Amber, somebody has to do it!
Most unusual !? And scary !! It's hard to imagine those as being the
"Top of the line" in advanced modern breakthrough technology of modern day inventions to ease the daily work chores..!! EeYeh !
AWSOME !! Thanx :..:
I agree, but probably better than the cast iron ones.
I don't know why but I like irons as well. May be I'll dig the one I got at the antique shop for display. You reawakened something inside me.
Thank you
