The blue/green of her dress looks almost like foil, the way it reflects light.

You are right Bootson, there is transparent enamel on worked metal, red is translucid too. Thank you for your visit and interest!

      hi, kyratango, lovely brooch.

Paul Bonnaud (France, 1873-1953) was one of the best-known artists in the Limoges region.

Your portrait miniature is one of several depictions of "Odalisque" after the painting by Angelo Asti (Ohio/Italy/France, 1847-1903). The definition of "odalisque" from wiki:

... "The word "odalisque" is French in form and originates from the Turkish odal?k, meaning "chambermaid", from oda, "chamber" or "room". It can also be transliterated odahlic, odalisk, and odaliq.

Joan DelPlato has described the term's shift in meaning from Turkish to English and French:

The English and French term odalisque (rarely odalique) derives from the Turkish 'oda', meaning "chamber"; thus an odalisque originally meant a chamber girl or attendant. In western usage, the term has come to refer specifically to the harem concubine. By the eighteenth century the term odalisque referred to the eroticized artistic genre in which a nominally eastern woman lies on her side on display for the spectator." ...

Forgot to give you link to Christie's auction showing "Odalisque" by Asti:

Thank you so much Solver for such a research!
I did not link the figure in the brooch to odalisque...
It remembered me more symbolist portraits of this era!
      You got it, bravo!

My pleasure, kyratango. She is a beauty and thus a common subject of portrait miniatures and porcelain plaques so I know her well. :-)

      Again many thanks!
May I ask your knowledgeable help on my Mysterious barbotine basket?

      Hi share!
Yes, several layers of enamel and foil under the robe part.
Paul Bonnaud was a great enameller!
Thank you for your comment, all my best wishes for the up coming new year :-)
