I've had this vase a few years now and have only very recently identified it as Japanese.
To be honest, for ages I thought it Czech, but I have learned heaps about Japanese glass in the last six months or so, and yep, even when I didn't know it was Japanese it pulled me in.
This is likely Kamei:
Purple glass - check
Thick clear casing - check
Casing has been ribbed and twisted - check
Ground base - check
Thick hot finished rim - check
It's not very big at 17cm (6.5in) but heavy 1.2kg
Yeah - they can be pretty nice.
Thanks for the comment from the colour averted!
I prefer the term colourphobic!
Or clearaholic.
You said it......I would have said a purist (but only after some wine)
That's me, pure!
Stunning!!!!! As always
Thanks Ken for the lovely comment as usual.
Thanks too AntiqueRose - I know you get this glass!

Thankyou Sean!
Looks like something you just HAVE to put your hands on! Love your new user id photo too :)
Thanks SUP! It is very tactile as is most of my glass.
I'm often that sulky......picture is by Yoshitomo Nara - look him up and be entertained :)
OMG ...it's amazing! Love the purple!
Beautiful! I couldn't be a purist, I love colors too much, all of them. :)
I know you both are getting in to coloured glass and I agree this purple is lovely! The more colour in glass the more I like it!
Thanks Melanie and Katherine.
