I fell in love with this cool print when I saw it last week at my friend's shop, I went back today & bought it. It's marked as seen on the top "The Gentlewoman" Christmas supplement 1898. Perhaps from an old magazine. The frame has a card taped to it from Alex Fraser Galleries Vancouver B.C.
I too find this absolutely delightful. Thank you for sharing it. It reminds me for some reason of a fine piece of Limoges pate sur pate I had years ago. I could see this done as fine enamelling on glass too, it just has that kind of detail and delicacy, to me.
Thanks, Lisa & everyone else for the loves. You're right, Lisa it does have that look to it. I even like the wear around the edges to me it just adds to the vintage look of the piece.
I did a quick search, and I saw a couple of these out there printed on silk. ((Here is a link to one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/84153710/reserved-for-frenchychic-the-gentlewoman). From the edges of yours, it looks like it could be silk also. Very cool! I love this style of picture, it reminds me of Maxfield Parrish in some ways.
it reminds me of Maxfield Parrish as well. it probably came from that same mileu of wonderful midnight garden parties... love it!
This is lovely :) I was fortunate enough to find a large Maxfield Parrish print a couple weeks ago.
