This was passed down to my husband from his great-aunts possessions when she passed away. I don't know anything else about its history. It does appear quite old and has some wear and tear as you can see from the pictures. One neat thing is that it was crafted in such a way that the stitches are fairly blind from the front. It was obviously all hand done, but the stitches are small and fairly even. If any of you have any ideas about the age and pattern of the quilt we would appreciate any info you may have. Also as you can see there is a hole in the back. Should I fix it or leave it alone? The lace edges are damaged too, but I have no idea how I could possibly repair that.

Beautiful . Quilts pre all the short cuts we have learned to cut pieces was a tedious job and each piece had to be sewn exactly in right place and in perfect line . Some of these old quilts took years to make . The cutting of pieces could take months . Today we can make front design all cut out in a day and have learned short cuts . I used to quilt but has been awhile due to my eyes. Each hand stitch would follow the pattern and placed inside seam so on front it did not show but made a design on backing. I have seen some elaborate hand stitched designs and now they even do those by machine . Hard to date it I was trying to see what kind of material it was but hard to tell from a photo. As for the lace we don't know if it was new when she used it or older. I would save this and treasure it. Just don't handle it much . You can patch back . I do not know name of pattern and many were created by maker of quilt it is a art . Some came from patterns . I have not seen this exact one myself but someone may have on site . I am thinking 1930-40's ?
