Here's a few more pieces I picked out from yesterdays haul sorting jewelry at Salvation army. The bead necklace was in a plastic lunch bag with a piece of price tag left on it. The silver brooch, star ear ring, and small tray are Mexican Alpaca Silver (nickle silver) with Abalone shell inlays. The large pin can be worn as a necklace as it has a loop on the back, but the pin is missing. My grandparents went to Mexico in the 60's and bought my mom a pin very close to this one. No mates for the ear rings :(.... The star shaped one is a screw back and the loop one may be better silver as it has a tiny .925 mark. Hopefully they find the mates at some point. -Mike-
I'll need a photo soon Mike.
I need to see these pretty things on someone. Who's close by?
Oh that's right, you are!
I wouldn't do them justice by any means .....lol.... yes I need a display bust of some kind. I've seen them at the craft stores. I should pick one up .
I try to be optimistic..they seem to fit the bill as far as jade goes. Heavy cool to the touch and they look opaque in spots with some variations in color. Pink jade doesn't seem to be too valuable either from what I've seen online. Still pretty at any rate :)
Thanks Lisa:) That's OK too..they were basically free.
I was thinking pink jade too when I saw this. You could always have the star shaped earring re-purposed into a ring if you find a jeweler that can do it for you. (it may not be able to be done due to the heat they might have to use) but it would be cute! The other earring into a necklace. Nice find :)
Thanks shareurpassion :)....great ideas!
