I received this Indian Doll from a family member just as it appears. Any information on this type of Indian doll would be appreciated. The doll is 10" long. The face and hair have deteriorated over the years and it appears there once was a head band. The hair with the doll is very long, black and coarse and there are 3 bark pieces on the head, where the hair would have been attached. The body is cloth, the boots leather, the dress cloth and a blanket type shawl.
Thanks in advance for any info any of you may be able to give me! have a great day!!

What a wonderful piece of history ! This was actually a doll a child might play with vs a tourist doll I believe .I do wonder if it is American Indian or South American ? Are you in USA ?

Thank you and yes, I'm in the USA. The family member that owned it actually lived in Illinois.

The lack of bead work and the use of maybe wool traded for to make cape and the no so perfect painting leads me to believe it may have been made by a child . Can you tell me what the hanging beads are made of ?

What is doll stuffed with . I don't see the hair on photo but suspect it was horsehair

The hanging beads appear to be plastic? they are attached with a stiff eyelet cord that runs through the beads and is then sewn to the dress. In looking what it is stuffed with, it appears to be a short white/tan fur mix. The doll did only have a small amount of the hair, loose in the bag. But it does look like horse hair.

I can't confirm plastic on the beads, possibly porcupine quills?
