What a beauty ! I love it
what is the eye below the dial. is it an indicator valve for station acuracy?
I'm scared to open it - in case it breaks. Thank you so much for the information - I will try so see if I can get to any numbers without damaging the case!
I would say circa 1939. Interestingly, one station, W2XR was only licensed 1929-1936, it changed it call sign after that. The paint job is after the fact. Under that gold paint is a marbleized Bakelite dial bezel and tuning wheels.

This dial is common to many 1939 Montgomery Airline Radios.
