Hi! I am trying to find out some information on this item given to me by a friend...he said it was from 1956..it looks like Robby the Robot, but doesn't say that on the box. I would appreciate any information anyone could provide! Thank you!

Hello, we have that robot featured in this interview. :)

      http://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/attack-of-the-vintage-toy-robots-justin-pinchot-on-japans-coolest-postwar-export/

This generically named robot is based on Robby, the helpful robot in the 1956 movie “Forbidden Planet.”

Yes, this robot was based in Robbie the robot, but doesn't say in the box because a rights issue.

This robot was made by Nomura in Japan and its very appreciate by collectors, its a very good piece.

I just saw one like this last monday on pawn stars. They called in their resident toy expert and he appraised that one at what i think was up $2500 or $2800 or something near that. that one was in very good condition; still working no damage or rust with no corrosion in the battery compartment. Their box was in better shape than yours. Not sure what this one would appraise for but it is very cool.

Wow, I've always loved the "idea" of collecting these, but they are sooooooooooo pricey now.
This one is fab! Thanks for sharing it- Shell

Welcome Patch1616, These will bring $1000.00+ in mint condition in a mint box.

Unfortunately the one above looks like the batteries were left in it and it rusted out the left leg.
