Seeing Lee's posting of her display inspired this one. I think we did this once before; I would love to see how others are displaying their collections.

In the last year or so I put the finishing touches on two built-ins. The challenge I find with collecting is keeping the balance so that it doesn't looking like one is hoarding.

Modern meets antique beautifully. What excellent decorating savvy! I have to admit that I want to copy what you have done with your collection. It's absolutely gorgeous!

Mac, your shelves are really wonderful - what a classy way to display your glass. And you can see each individual piece so well - I know exactly what you mean about displaying without making it look like hoarding!! ;)

Hi David. Thank you. It was the shelves that inspired me. These were made by a local artist. They are construction grade iron poles used to support buildings while excavation work is being done. He added iron clamps and tempered glass. I thought it was a brilliant idea using the concept of reclaim/reuse. I am not really a big fan of Ikea personally; coincidence perhaps?

Mac, I am loving your use of space and displaying your fantastic glass. To showcase in different ways! Hmmm.... Gives me food for thought when I have a house. Thank you for your share my friend!

David - This one is solid - not earth quake proof but solid. Earth quakes are a rarity in this part of the world but I guess anything is possible. Speaking of Ikea - they do have those solid pressed board units that are stackable book shelves although they wouldn't allow much light on the glass : http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/40275846/

idcloisonnne - thanks for the comment. The one problem I have noticed is that friends with little ones never relax when they come to visit. I admit my place is not kid friendly - it never had to be part of my thinking. I admit I get a little on easy too when little ones are in the house...:)

Thank you. It is not heavy at all. It is red lacquered tray that a good friend bought for me.
