I bought thousands of these old and very tiny tiles many years ago along w/ a bunch of old California tiles from the 1920s. I wonder who made these ones? they are 1/2" square and the base clay is kind of a distinctive pinkish yellow - very similar to the clay in Arequipa Pottery. Any ideas of where and when they were made will be much appreciated.
You just gave me a great idea. Thanks! I've got a table and chair, the glass is gone and I thought for a brief moment to...well, of course I didn't. lol I'd much rather do this than replace the glass :)
I need a bag full myself ho2 :-) I was just thinking I need to replace a small table top I use for my coffee cup and had tile in mind . Yours look like Mexican made to me ? The newer ones now come on a sheet so they are all lined up making it easier . Love the table top too !
You lucky!!! This is adorable!!!
thank you shareurpassion, Manikin, and Virginia.vintage! great idea shareurpassion. Manikin - i don't think they're Mexican because of the color and hardness of the clay bisque and the glazes are all arts/crafts glazes from 1900-1930. i've done a bit of homework w/ these and i can tell that much. an expert in the california potteries of the time can tell me who they are made by - or at least one or two probable ones. i just need to find one!
