Ludwig Moser's son Leo became the director of the Moser glassworks from 1908 until 1932, and it was during this time that these types of broad facet cut pieces in colored crystal, sometimes adorned with oroplastic decoration and/or deep intaglio carving, were introduced. By the mid-1920s, these were a characteristic feature of Moser production.*

This piece is a deep-red colored glass called "rubin", and it is absent any further ornamentation - in this case, the glass (and its design) do all the talking. The signature was used from 1911-1938.

Note to all you online glass sellers out there - please, do yourselves a favor, and never photograph this type of glass on a colored background - it is nearly impossible for the true color of the glass to come through, and I guarantee that will hurt the price you will get.

A couple of years ago, I posted a vase in this same shape with the same signature, in a slightly larger size, with an oroplastic band encircling the vase near the top (see last photo for a comparison).

Hi There, I think I have a similar piece. It's been in my family for a very long time and I'm trying to get more information about the piece.
Mine is the same dark red with facets, and the same signature. The only difference is my piece is oval. I'd love to post a picture and read comments about it.

I just looked at the picture and mine and they are the same. What have I stumbled on too? Help please!
