I got confirmation from the auction house early this morning. I am picking this flange sign up on Friday or Saturday. The three colour photos are from the auction house web site.
I have purchased (and sold) from this auctioneer before, but never a proxy bid. Took a little longer than I expected to confirm I won the sign. The sign is not mint and not worth the $750 that is shown in the Petretti guide (12th edition), but I think I did well at $365. That includes the taxes and absentee bidders fee. Most of the time this auction house does not have a bidders fee. For those new collectors, it is good to understand that your bid at auction will most likely have a bidders fee added to your bid, so calculate that into what you are willing to pay. I did some research and knew I did not want to go over $400 total.
I look forward to getting the back story of where the sign came from and how it got to auction.
Thanks for letting me share this. I am very happy!
Also, thanks for all the "love's" on the previous post. Let's call that one "a teaser post".
Flangetastic!
Thank you D_N. Thanks to Manikin, fortapache, and antiquerose too for the "loves".
This one will stay in my collection for a while.
The sign is rusted, which I know is acceptable, I was wondering if you do anything to stop further rusting. very cool sign and I can't wait to hear the history of where it is from.
Great unveiling CokeKid!
Good morning, and thank you for the loves and comments. I will follow up with what I hope is a good story on its history next week.
Thanks, I am interested in finding out. How do you keep that rust from continuing?
Great score.
Nice one!!!
I have two signs similar to the ones in the pic but I dont know much about them they are in beautiful condition and are made by Kay designs Austria in 1939
