Does anyone know who the maker might be? The 3rd photo shows the bottom but I don't know if you can tell, to me it looks like it was "sliced" off another piece. This is not a pontil, correct? I hope you can see it.
Approx. size is 3.5" x 3.5" and funny, it weights about 3.5 pounds.
I found this today at a great independent thrift shop that is so crammed with everything! Some items there have fantastic prices and I think some are overboard. I wish I already knew more about the glass vases showcased here, although I think I would be able to spot some. There is just so much I didn't know what to pick out.
I thought I was trying to get away from the cobalt blues, and this is what I ended up taking home??? The bubble in the middle of the flower looks silver when in person. I knew this would be hard to photograph for me anyway...
Why try and break away from what you love? Blue is brilliant, and this is a relaxing paperweight - very calming.
SUP the pontil (or punty) mark would have been on the base, but after the weight is finished they put it on a large rotating "sander" to polish it out. So most glass you see with a flat base has been polished after completion.
If you are interested here is a video of Wint Harris making a paperweight. It's amazing how much work is in even a simple piece. He doesn't show polishing the punty in it though!

Wow!!! I'm speechless! (almost, lol) Thank you so much for the encouragement on the blues. I really appreciate that. Throughout the day I have walked by this and I am so glad I got it! After watching the video, it sure makes you appreciate the artists talent!!! I remember as a kid loving to watch the glassblowers at Disneyland. Now I have many more to watch AND I have to go back to that shop, there are two more I think I'll grab up. Never imagined I'd really care for these. I will post a photo of the other 2.
