PICKED THIS UP AT THE SALATION ARMY. BEAUTIFULLY MADE WITH A THERMOMETER AND SHOWS HUMIDITY. THE GUAGE IN THE CENTER HAS ME STUMPED AS IT HAS TWO INDICATORS. ONE IN THE INSTRUMENT AND ONE THAT PASSES THRU THE GLASS ON THE KNOB AND IS ADJUSTABLE. AN IDEAS? SWIFT AND ANDERSEN, BOSTON MASS. STAMPED ON THE REAR CASE. CRACK IN GLASS . I LIKED IT ON SIGHT. THE CASE IS A MADE OF WOOD.

The outer pointer was used to show what the actual change was over time. The user could simply align the needle with the inner one and then after checking it, say 6 hours later, could see the actual change in humidity level

Only know that because we had one in the 70's, although it was a cheap one with plastic case and clear plastic face instead of glass. - No where near as nice as yours.

Here is some info on the company; - In 1926, Robert Wesselhoeft Swift bought a small import company and called it Swift and Anderson Inc. This family owned company was the first to import roof prism binocular from Hensolt Germany. Throughout the twentieth-century the company expanded to become one of the leading trade company of fine optical products in the United States, now known as Swift Instruments. Its international headquarters is in Boston and today remains a family owned business.

Thanks again for the input. I just like the fact it is a quality piece and American made. For $2.00 I wasn't about to get hurt. Going to have a glass cut and drilled this week.
