Hello Radio heads! My friend has this floor model radio and could not find any info on it anywhere, so he asked me to help research. I tried everything! All kinds of sites, keywords, name it. Nothing. It stands 37 inches tall and is 23 inches wide. It has a " Cats Eye Tuner " situated above the station dial which glows green and brighter as the station tunes in. Also has short wave bands. Console chassis 526, label says 1931. We are beginning to think it is rare or very rare. Oh, and it's in excellent condition cosmetically AND works great! Any info on it, history, a Web page that has the same model, or whatever you can give me...(us) will be very much appreciated. He picked it up way back in 1976 in Australia and is just now researching it. Neither of us are "radio" people. Thanks.

      Airzone Corp; Sydney (AUS)
Airzone became one of the biggest manufacturers in Australia and produced also for Malvern Star, Mullard and Peal.
      Radioproduction: 1925 - 1955
Airzone started manufacturing crystal sets in 1925.
In the 30s they moved to Parramatta Road at Camperdown in Sydney and expanded to 750 employees.
In 1931 the company was reorganised as "Airzone 1931 Ltd."
By 1936 the factory floor area was over 3400 square metres.
In 1946 the company became part of Emmco. email manufacturers of Philco brand sets.
After 1948 both Airzone and Philco branded sets were the same.
      Radio production finished after 1955.
Airzone branded radios made after 1955 were manufactured by AWA. Original price of console model was 24/0/0. On E-bay there is a 1935 Airzone Console Radio similar to yours going for $1400.00

Thank you. Do you have a link to the sale or do you know what the full title was? I'd like to see what the differences and similaries are/were. Thanks so much for the great info! -

Just go to E-bay and type in 1931 airzone. There is a good pix of the radio. If you decide to sell the radio E-bay is probably the best place to get the full value. Yours is pretty rare in the US and is easily worth $1500-$1900 at auction.

thank you. I typed 1931 airzone into both US ebay and Australia eBay. Zero matches found on either.

Sorry. Go to E-bay and type in 1935 Airzone Console Radio. I checked again. The auction is still active.

Thanks, I did see that one. Not a 1931 though. ;-)

Manufactured in 1936 and known as model 568 and was presented in different cabinets. 1931 was when the company was incorporated

Thank you very much. I think this might finally help solve this mystery!
