Fine China brought back from WWII

I inherited these items from my Grandfather after he passed away. He supposedly brought these back from Germany during WWII, however, I am not 100% sure. I would love to find out any information that someone may know about these pieces, and why/how a soldier would have brought these back from a war (fine China + war =shattered pieces!!!). I just cannot picture that happening successfully :) . I am posting a few more pieces as well. If anyone has any thoughts please share! Thanks.
