I bought this from a very reputable dealer who claims it is 18th century. It is clear that the cleaver is very old, and primitive, but we can only speculate as to how old it is. The only thing I did not show in the pictures is probably the most important. The blade is one piece, and it is driven all the way through the handle and cinched or bent at the bottom . Thus, it would be impossible to break this handle off. Lol, a great piece.
