I went to the old city In Riyadh in Saudi Arabia with our guide. I came upon one of the little shops and they had a lot of old looking things. I found this on the shelf and it was black before I cleaned it. the man told the guide that it was more then 200 years old and that you put oil in it and then a wick in each arm. he said that a man around the age of 97 dropped it off for money. but other then that he knew not much about it. I would love to know how old it really is and if it is of value so I can insure it.
How I love that story. Makes me want to run out and believe a used car salesman.
I was going easy.
I would sooner think it is a liquid incense burner.
Also, please take a close look at the image. The face of a pig. Does that fit in with Saudi Arabia? You can't even ship your son Slim Jim's with pork over there.
It is a fairly new object, not sure what though.
No doubt, oil lamp! Rather cat/lioness than pig (ears, nose)
Saw somewhere this kind with several beaks... Still researching for similar :-)
I'm guessing a fox.
And a wick lamp like in description.
