Finally found the perfect cabinet for my nodder kokeshi collection. Obviously oriental in manufacture it comes apart into wall mountable cabinet & stand. Now I can have virtually my whole collection on display and not worry about dusting most of it! Got it for a bargain price too as it was a "free collection in person" item on an auction site on which no one else bid. Same for the giant kokeshi (12 inches tall, one small dent on the man & a little bit of paint flaking on the woman) - living in the UK I never thought I'd be able to own these, as postage of such heavy items is prohibitively expensive from Japan or the US. In the process I met a lovely couple who buy & sell at auction and were fascinated to hear about kokeshi - they've promised to let me know if they come across any more...
That looks fantastic!
Great cabinet, and I particularly love the round stand on top.
Your Kokeshi are wonderful. I like the big Kokeshi door "guards"!
Thanks racer4four. I bought the black stand in Japan, although I think it's originally Chinese - it features in a couple of my older posts too.
I just looked at your amazing art glass collection - wow! The first thing I sold on eBay was a Whitefriars coffin-shaped vase by Geoffrey Baxter, although mine was a black one.
Beautiful display and great looking Kokeshi.
Thanks Soulportal - have already admired your kokeshi in the past!
This is wonderful!
Thanks Jewels :) I'm so thrilled with it - most of my kokeshi collection had to be kept in drawers until I got this. Now it lives on a chest of drawers in my bedroom and is virtually the first thing I see in the morning. Reminds me of a great year living in Japan!
