Hi there....
Forgot all about this ashtray until I was going through a box of stuff a few months ago. Since then, have been casually trying to locate info about it online. I brought it back from London in 1980 or '81. Was traveling between the UK, USA and ME at the time, so unable to be more specific.
It's really not an "unsolved mystery" because it's easy to identify what it is and where it came from. The problem I've encountered is locating information about a production run, if it was available in all Playboy Clubs worldwide, etc.
Yep, there are numerous sites with countless Playboy ashtrays and those are the typical ones in the typical shapes with the typical characters. Seriously, there has to be more of these 25th editions out there somewhere!
I posted these pics at a few places on the net to see if anyone would recognize it and offer more info, but other than a comment that it was "quite rare", nothing else. [heavy sigh]
However, I finally ran across a shop in LA (at their online presence) that has one listed. So it is nice to know that mine isn't the only one, but I'm still hoping someone will have any background information and be kind enough to share it.
Hi Shirley,i live in the ,UK and also have the same Playboy ashtray, have you found any interest in yours yet, mine is slightly marked,Jim
Hi there...
Information regarding possible production numbers, etc., are apparently not to be found by my searches. I will be happy to share the info from two sources regarding it's potential/possible value.
The following URL is for the shop in Los Angeles. Please note they had previously offered the ashtray for $400 and they are now asking $300.

Additionaly, I sent an enquiry to an auction house in Beverly Hills:
Julien’s Auctions
Beverly Hills, California
The Auction House To The Stars
Here is an excerpt from the response by Mr. Darren Julien, President/CEO: "I would estimate its value to be around $200..."
So at this point in time, I can only presume it is more collectible that the typical ones that are available for a few dollars.
I would like to sell this one but reluctant to put it on eBay and have someone offer an amount much less than what it is actually worth.
(^.^)
Hi Shirley, I just picked up the same ashtray in Melbourne Australia.
Thanks for sharing the information you have gathered so far. I did some research and found some BBC photographs of the 25th anniversary event in London. One photo shows a white ashtray on the table, but unfortunately it has a cigarette butted out in it so you cant tell if it's the same one!
Here is the link to the page: (scroll through to the one with Ursula Andress in it)
