    Drill
    (64 items)

Found locally it was just given to me.Slight arch to to the top .34" long 24" ht. 22 wide Originally covered in (destroyed)/duck cloth painted black( like 4 coats of paint over everything /a basket case. Stripped cleaned and stained. The metal was painted with both black satin and black gloss . The hardwood slats (dark Mohagany gel stain minwax)/base wood is pine I stained the (ends) red chestnut/satin finish. The center is stained pecan satin. The handles were missing and the ends of the trunk on both sides,They had so many holes where the handles had been repaired multiple times .That I decided to repair both ends with new cooper sheeting to cover the butchery to the wood. Then the handles would be placed. The copper was given a patina using lemon juice/salt/ammonia and tenting with plastic for 24 hrs. This process will turn raw copper "statue of liberty green"or aged cooper ( green not brown)red wine and a paint brush
were also used to stain the cooper further.(This was worth all the effort the effect is stunning). then new handles re-applied.
Some of the top and side panels as well as the back were re-covered in an brown imitation alligator skin/fabric(Glued).The lithograph was clear coated Artist Matte finish to protect it and interior was stripped and re-stained honey pine satin. Everything was then clear coated with 2 coats of varnish( satin) Still waiting to find a spot on on lock replacement.Fun project over the winter months.

Great job!! So Drill your saying this was originally covered in the alligator pattern you have shown. I have one very similar but some different and extra trims. I just posted it beside yours. You say their common, I have never seen one up here in Ontario or anything with a double lock for that matter. I am glad to have it. I had your photo saved to that trunks folder, I didn't even know it came from you. Too funny..small world! Thanks for listing it!
