An older Liggett & Myers pipe & cigarette tobacco can. I found this in an attic of an old house I was remodeling and found it filled with the very old style wooden clothes pins. It still remains filled with those same clothes pins.
My uncle smoked many cans of velvet. lol

bahamaboy, No unfortunately he passed away about 5 years ago, never kicked habit. This velvet can brought back memories of him. I miss him dearly. You have some great items.
Wow. Sorry to hear that. But thank you very much for your compliment. You have some awesome items yourself. Of the few people that are following me, I feel kinda bad cause I know they are getting tired of the emails one gets when someone they follow posts an additional item. I myself love to see others post new things, and be notified of such, but the way I'm posting stuff, it's gotta be getting old already, for them to be constantly inundated with a barrage of emails, notifying them about the new postings. Sorry for that folks. I think/hope I will soon get to the point that I will be close to getting done. I just don't see it coming in the next few days unfortunately. Oh well...

Thanks for stopping by shortfellow. I haven't seen another either. But I'm not a collector of tobacco tins, even though I really like them. This one I just ended up with, along with the old clothespins that filled the inside. Thanks again for looking and for taking the time to make a comment.
Velvet tobacco has been around for decades and as far as I know is still made today. It is a very popular pipe tobacco as well as some using it to roll cigarettes. It is in the same category as half/half and model pipe tobacco. Your tin is a older velvet tin and is very collectable. No I am not a smoker, but all my uncles burned plenty of pipes up in there time.

Velvet is probably the 2nd most common brand of tobacco second only to Prince Albert. There were a few types of designs used over the years and your can AKA "Knob Top" due to the lid design.

A 4th would be the 3rd type with bar codes added. There might be a combo design between 1 and 2. They use the smoke logo from the 1st design and the shield from the 2nd one.
