I was told this was my Grandfather's and I was hoping to pass it down to my son. Like many other here, I was hoping to get a hint of what time period it was made and by who. I've been unable to find anything like it. Of course, I may be looking in all the wrong places.
Thanks for any words of wisdom.
Very nice he is made of composition by Ideal Toy Co. USA around 1918

Thank you VERY much for the information and quick response. This is exactly the information I was looking for. I wanted to be able to identify the doll and pass on the family stories that were told to me as we pass it down through the family.
Again, many tips of the hat to you.
Your welcome ! and I Thank you for letting me know you saw my comments and thanking me so often I never know if poster checks back :-) Very nice heirloom to pass on. Do not get him wet or store where there is extreme temperature change like a attic or basement and he should hold up well for a long time .
