This is a cane handed down from my step-grandmother. I've heard that it was called a marriage cane, or wedding cane. It's all hand-carved and something has been carved in German. It is VERY unique, and I was wondering if anyone have ever seen one, or heard of this kind of cane. Please let me know if you can enlighten me!

    Thanks,
    Linda

      Ok, the inscription is this:
      HEINRICH
      sei helle
      bleib Jung
      geselle
There is also heart on the underside with loisi carved into it. If you'd like more pics, please email me at LinLou49@aol.com

It means "Heinich, be clear (= clever), stay a bachelor" !

That's awesome! I had been told the the pics were carvings of the things he would have to give if he got married. What is the loisi? Is it a name? Where might I go to find out a value, or if its even a desirable item?
