WW2 French M26 steel helmet. Very similar in design to the French helmet of WW1 the M1915, except the M26 was pressed out of a thicker single piece of manganese steel with a simpler liner which was to easier to manufacture.
these helmets still have the original metal badges for Infantry , a flaming bomb with RF for "Republic of France" the helmet on the right was actually found near an old German airfield in France, it's in battlefield relic condition.
great photos!!
beautiful helmets!! have you seen peteys helmet collect?
Thanks for looking, yes I have seen Petey's helmets, he has a very nice collection of helmets.
I guess you did already :) you and petey and theres someone else on cw . you guys have some great helmet collections!!
You have great posts I look forward to more.
I have a WWI sapper helmet to post myself.
The beauty of finding relics like this are usually where you find the helmets you'll also find the firearms that the soldier dropped close by, as he was running out of the area.
a real nice pairing battlegear ,i love the patina on the mustard coloured example and would be proud to own it
