Found the very unusual lamp at an auction. When I came home found a piece of tape on it with the word "Galle". After I did some internet research the lamp does have the same painting technique as ones I saw. This light has no shade and is approximately the size of a large bowling ball. The paint design on the outside has a rubber feel to it. Could this possibly be an original "Galle"?
I don't think it is Gallé. The works of Émile Gallé are some of the most reproduced glass designs - copies abound.
it's still a very pretty lamp though!
