I have a question. I have been collecting Matchbox cars since I was a kid. This is part of my collection. The display case came out of a hardware store in Ohio. I was wondering if any one knows the date or history of this display case? The only thing printed on it is a statement that says the following "Printed and made in England P.G. 75 U.S.A."

Any help in this mystery would be helpful. Thank you.

flindquist: When ever I date Matchbox cars the first thing that I look at is the printing of the word Matchbox. If you looks at the original boxs you have, the printing changes from the early cars to the later 1960s cars. The bold typing of "MATCHBOX" to me dates the display case around 1966, 1968 with that print. The case would have been used for a many years after to replace each model as they rotated out. They are known as the 1-75 series. So there was always 75 cars every year.

flindquist, I seen this psot and it brought back some Good Memories and some bad. I used to collect these when I was a kid. I would go to the Military PX in Germany and buy a new car a few times a month. I was 5 or 6 back then. I would play with them and always put them back in the boxes and store wawy in my dresser. When other kids came over I had plastic cars to play with them because I didn't want anyone messing up my Matchbox cars. LOL. When we moved from Germany back to States, my collection of around 50 cars in original boxes never made it to us. Stolen! Now I think I will start buying them again. So THANKS for another OCD! LOL Dave

It sounds like a nightmare dizzydave. They are getting very expensive in original boxes since the maker died. They are right there with some red line hotwheels.

Nice collection. Display case adds so much to it, it has to be rare.
