Can someone give me some insight on the age of this desk or even the era? it's a crescent shape and is solid wood. I wish i could tell you what type of wood but it's two toned. It's gorgeous but aside from that i have no idea about any of the details. I paid a pretty penny for it but i also don't know the value. Some insight please if you've got any!

Are there any labels on it (in drawers, underneath, etc.)?

I'm thinking Victorian era, probably later in the period, maybe early 20th century?

      Maybe French? Seems ornate enough.

Very cool piece, I'm curious what the seller told you about it?

Phil - you said what I couldn't quite say...I think the style is old but the two-tone throws me off and also made me think "new" as the early Victorian kidney-shaped desks don't seem to use the different colored wood....maybe? I think the older French pieces had the typical long, slim legs but the English versions seem more blocky. You're a wealth of information - this is fun, glad I joined the site, I'm learning a lot!
