Would like to find out about the year and make of this pen. It use to belong to my husbands grandfather that was a Dr in Cuba. It is 14k gold and is one of a set. This one has a small Thermometer attached in the back of the pen. I have being looking in the internet for one like it but have not found. Looks very unique. Would like to know more information.
As a Medical person I think this is a unique and wonderful piece ! I almost wonder if it was special made ? I love it !
Doctors' pens are fountain pens that hark back to the era of house calls and doctor's bags. Doctor's pens came with a thermometer. Some models actually concealed a thermometer inside the pen barrel. Others came in sets, with a thermometer in its own case matched to a fountain pen and pencil

Photo says "Removing the blind cap from the bottom of the pen reveals a thermometer, which is signed "Laughlin Mfr. Co. Detroit, Mi"
My neighbor is from Cuba but not old enough to remember this. If we can get the image there we will ask his mom. She is 70 and just went home. Not easy getting things past the system but it happens.
Thank you both for your help. There is a name in the Thermometer that looks like a signature. I will try to read it and post it. Also the pen has 2 initial of letters.so maybe it was special made.
I have been trying to find out the words handwritten on Thermometer. This is the closes I have gotten. These are the words, I do no know if they are written in a language that is not English nor Spanish. Maybe German?
"Inalterables in JPilleschar Lonitci Barm" Does anyone knows what this says? or maybe similar words? Thanks
