This is an EAPG 1880 swirl twisted whale oil lamp. It doesnt have a single mark on it anywhere. I found it the same place as the Thomas Beverage bottle. There's also a cotton fiber 8" wick that was inside it when I found it. I dont know how old it is tho. Just wanted to share this cool old find with yall. Ty
Love it!
Thanx to you both. I've had it for about 2 years but just until the last few days I found not one thing on this particular style. Its not even on EAPG's website gallery. I'm going to get it appraised this weekend. Hopefully due to it's rarity it will bring more than it $100-$200 counterparts. It had a cotton fiber wick in it that is spotless so I hope that pushes the appraisal up some.
I also have this lamp. I bought it at a yard sale several years ago for $1.00. It was in an old wooden box of junk of rusted bolts, old doorknobs and misc. junk. It also had some old gunked up oil in the bottom of it. (dried up) after I cleaned that out and washed it up, it was beautiful! It also has the wick holder on the top. Love this lamp. I am curious what yours appraised for.
The appraisal fell thru but I've been told between $400-500
WoW! Nice profit margin if I ever decide to sell it. I saw someone had one for sale on Ebay for $119. Where did you find yours?
I found mine with some items that were post 1900 in an old barn buried under alot of trash
