HELLO FOLKS, THIS LONGWY VASE WAS MY GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER'S AND I BELIEVE(NOT SURE) FROM THE MARKERS MARK IT IS DATED 1865-1885, CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THAT FOR ME FROM THE PHOTO? IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND I CANNOT FIND ANY OTHERS TO COMPARE IT TO. IT IS 5INCHES HIGH BY 4 INCHES WIDE. I KNOW THIS IS NOT A SITE FOR FORMAL APPRAISALS BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IT'S VALUE AND KEEP REACHING DEAD ENDS. I HAVE TRIED TO FIND SOMEONE LOCAL, LOOKED ONLINE (WHERE IS HOW I FOUND THIS FANTASTIC SITE), EBAY, REVERSE IMAGES AND GETTING NOWHERE. HOPING SOMEONE HELP SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS OR MAYBE MAKE A SUGGESTION OF WHERE TO GET THE ANSWERS I AM SEEKING. LIBRARY? THANK YOU AND HOPE YOU ENJOY THE PHOTOS OF THE VASE!
I think numbers are mold stamp numbers and have nothing to do with date ?
Very nice and a great heirloom that I hope gets passed on in family in that case value is all in that it was your Great Grandmothers and that is priceless ! :-)
Hello, If you look closely there is an impression stamp that says Longwy at the top right. I found a site called "Liberty's Antiques" and searched "makers marks" which was VERY helpful in identifying all the items passed down to me and I BELIEVE it is the one from 1865-1885, but just not 100% sure. Great site, maybe it will help someone else as well! Thank you for your comment. I really was not sure about all those numbers either, but you are right they must be the style number of the piece. Maybe Someone can help identify the piece Title and date through those numbers! Crossing my fingers:)
Yes indeed! I would like to know it's history because I know when my only son gets it he will not take the time to research it(lol) and I may need to think about getting insured.
Beautiful :-))
Kovels has a lot on longwy marks and shapes you can try there ;-)
Is it stamped LONGWY ? I can't see it clear if it is ?
Ok thank you Surfdub66, I will check it out! And Manikin I switched last photo for a better view. Too bad they only allow 4 pics
Thanks that helped :-)
