..the difference between Loetz and Tiffany...Loetz seemed to have a sense of whimsy found in some of their creations around 1900...The extruded glass is much more difficult to achieve than applied glass legs.. This technique was reserved for only the most talented of the Loetz master craftsman....and we haven't even mentioned the super bright iridescence!...these are seldom seen outside of the Passau Museum
Now thats Purdy....
I have one and you are right, the colors in these pieces are amazing. Bright pinks, purples, golds, greens. I refer to these as Gre 1/844 variants. I know the Passau has examples of these displayed next to examples of Gre 1/844 but I am not sure the Passau has actually identified them yet. https://picasaweb.google.com/petersend22/LoetzPG1844Variant#
I also have one of these. Mine has a pinched top rater than square. I consider it to be a P.G. 1/104. Colors are out of this world and definately compares with my extensive Quezal collection.
come on Frank...share some pics of your collection. Don't let the rest of us do all the work!
Oh well I just love this lots :)
