Heavy glass ground to form a raised leaf pattern. Resembles Galle style. I rewired it for safety and use. I rebuilt the inner workings of the base light switch to keep it original. Obviously bronze with "bakelite" plug end and pull chain ends. Made by the Crest Company of Chicago probably circa early 1900's. Obtained from a friend who received it from his grandmothers estate. I had it appraised once and the appraiser told me it was probably a 60s reproduction. That's when I realized that I was the authority. Modern shade. The base glows a deep maroon when not internally lit. It has a haunting beauty.

The glass was made by Steuben in the early 1930's. It is black over ruby. Crest used a lot of Steuben and Durand Glass to make high end lamps. They where the premire lamp company of the time outside of NY. The also used Rookwood, Moorcroft, Wedgewood bases. Always high end castings and usually marked on the metal work "CREST" or on the cluster.
