Found this item in an antique store in Crawfordsville Indiana. We have theorized that it is a nut cracker but not sure. It is made from cast iron and has a hole opposite the threaded shaft which does not stay consistent with the nut cracker idea. It is fairly heavy duty construction. Any ideas?

Would say nut cracker too (notice the coquilla nut pattern)
Perhaps he hole allows extruding nut paste, LOL ;-)

Thanks all for confirming my suspicion that it was a nutcracker. Especially tallcakes who provided the package photo. I really enjoy this site .
