Maharani on elephant?

This heavy ceramic figurine is about a foot tall and approximately 8" at the widest point of the elephant. It weighs just under 4 pounds and appears to be either vintage or antique. I think it is really cool but would like to know more about it. Any information about exactly what it is and/or how old it might be would be greatly appreciated.
