My father bought this picture before I was born and it has been in our family for over 60 years. He left it to me when he passed in 1993. I would love some information about it if anyone is familiar with it. At the bottom of the print it says it is Painted by G. Hilllyard Swinstead and engraved by S. Arlent Edwards. London published November 10, 1885 Copyrighted and registered and entered accordingly to the Act of Congress in the year of 1885 by Marc Jacoby office of Librarian of Congress of Washington. This is very special to me because my late sister's birthday was November 10 and the girl in the picture looks like she is my sister! I have always believed this was the reason it meant so much to my Dad. Thank you in advance for any information.

Ronijo, here is a very long article, "The Art of Mr. G. Hillyard Swinstead, R.B.A." from "The Windsor Magazine" Vol. XXII, June to November, 1905.

"The First Step" is shown on page 500. I think you will enjoy this article as much as you do your beautiful engraving.
