I don't know anything about this swan. I would really like to know where it came from and who made it. Thanks!

Looks possibly Murano to me but we would like to see a base photo to help ID!

I looked on the bottom and didn't see any visible markings. Copycat? I don't know. We tried to look it up but because we didn't see any markings it was kinda' hard to find out anything. If you'd still like to see a pic of the bottom I'll have to see if I can get a pic from my neighbor.

Thanks Trunklover. Even without markings the base of glass in particular goes a long way in identifying the maker.

Trunklover it is a bit hard to see but has the base been ground or does it have a melted flowing look?

If it's not ground it is more likely not Murano, maybe a studio piece.

Sorry - not much help at all really.

What do you mean by ground? To me it looks like it was set down on a flat surface while it was still hot. ???

That's ground. After the piece is made and cooled it is placed flat on a grinding surface and ground flat and then polished. It is the typical way Murano glass is finished. It is a time consuming step but gives the glass a very complete finish.

I would say it is from Murano. Murano are not a manufacturer - it is the island in Venice where glass makers work, so this could be from any number of makers. Without a sticker it would be difficult to say which one.

      Lovely swan!

Thanks! Any idea on how to go about finding out if it is definitely Murano?
