Flew mom, dad, sister and wife to Key West for lunch today and stumbled across a coral sponge market "Key west Sponge Shop" (of all places) selling Coca Cola bottles. Bottles were $2 a piece and the most interesting part, I found out these bottles were salvaged from the Key West Harbour. I asked the teller to explain a little more and she told me a Key West company digs these bottles off the Gulf of Mexico bottom to salvage them. What an amazing thought to think about where this bottle has been. Most of the bottles read Miami (as this one does) but there were many others cities as far north as New York. It needs a little soapy water but should clean up nicely. I bought 5 and the next time I visit the Keys (which will probably be soon) I'll look to see what new gems they dug up. Of all the bottles I have, this one definetly has the best story with still a hint of mystery.
TGB...yes I'm a recreational pilot. Flew from Naples (35 minute flight). No private jet, rather a Cessna. And if my initials stood for JP Morgan you would be in awe of my Coke collection as opposed to me envying yours!
