"Hiawatha" Genuine Needle Painting

"Hiawatha Genuine Needle Painting." These were sold in kits, a pre-printed design on linen with all the fixings to add your personal touch through embroidery.

This one is No. 58, On The Road To London. The textile size is roughly 5" x 7". Curiously, the black and gold borders are not matting, but actual black and gold paint on the backside of the glass. Something I have never seen before.

I believe these kits were available from around 1850 to 1940. I have not determined the exact age of this one.
