i like the glaze on this bowl i found at goodwill today. the pot itself is not all that well-made though. not sure what that little point in the middle is supposed to be for??? what does it say underneath? i can never read those marks.

The little point in the middle is a sign that the potter was inexperienced. This is a class room project, or made by a hobby artist who just got their first potter's wheel. If you don't take a potter's rib or your fingers and flatten out and smooth the bottom of the bowl while it's spinning on the wheel, you will end up with this little uneven bump on the bottom.

The poor trimming job, and the way it is "signed" on the bottom, also confirm it was made by a beginning potter. So it isn't going to matter what the name is, the value is based on its decorative appeal. Sometimes items like this have a charm or attractive quality that becomes lost with additional experience and expertise on the part of the potter.
