Such a beautiful piece that my pictures do not do justice to the amount of color that radiates off it. I purchased at a garage sale for under 20.00 just because of the color- I had no idea that it was of any monetary value. Since then, I have just enjoyed it on display in a curio but now I would like to know more about it. I really dont understand the color- is it electric purple or something else. Is this ruffled or pie crust or both? I have read for probably 4 hours in the last 2 days and cannot find another exactly like it.
Help is appreciated, but if nothing else- please enjoy its beauty!
Hello Tanjaz, well in order to learn the base color of carnival you must hold it up to the light and look at the base color and only the base, also this piece has the ruffled edge, if you look at my Northwood Peacocks on the Fence bowl and look at the style of edge it has, which is the Pie Crust Edge, you will notice the difference between that edge and your bowls edge.
Thanks Shawnl86,
Then the color is purple, but is it considered electric purple?
So, is there a way to actually collect an entire say service for 2 set of these dishes or are they not manufactured that way. I can picture a set up like this in my wine inspired kitchen.
Well... personally I would not consider it electric, if you noticed there is allot of gold irradiance especially on the grapes and leafs, and also Northwood and Fenton, Dugan all made a large variety of pieces of Grape and Cable also there is a similar pattern made by Fenton and Dugan known as Vintage, this pattern came in Salad Bowls, Powder Jars, Humidors, Water Sets, Full Vanity Sets, there are just tons of shapes, one of the most popular patterns in carnival!
we collect the Northwood amethyst grape and cable pattern carnival and have some pictures of what you are have, if you would like to view them, I posted today 6/4/11. Enjoy we sure do!
