Compenstine
(1 item)
I recently found out that this is a Victorian Bohemian Glass vase. It has been passed down to me from my parents estate. It is about 24" high and 5" wide. Hand painted and hand blown. It was one of my Mothers favorite pieces. I'm still unclear as to its maker. If you can help identify the maker please let me know. My closest thought is it may be Moser. I have seen other Moser items of the same colors and glass type.
This is so very beautiful - does it have 4 outside pillars combined to make 1 opening? (if that makes sense?) I don't know of any other way to word that question lol
No it is one that has been formed to make it look like 4. There are no seams that would indicate that it was 4 pieces to make the one. Like you I'm not sure how to explain it any better. :)
Hmm, so pretty, I searched and searched last night looking for Moser and Harrach as czechman suggested, and I just couldn't find your exact glass, OR that
the "pillars", if I could find the right term for it, would make all the difference in the search ha ha - I even tried "cylinder". I did come across a lot of glass very similar, which glowed in UV from various countries, which could give age estimation (to a certain degree) - simply gorgeous. I see why your Mother like it so much =)
I only found 3 examples in all my searches of the style of glass. The third is just a photo of a jewelry box. I saw quite a few examples of the art style that were Moser.

I just re measured it and did the black light test. It does not glow under black light like green depression or vaseline glass would.
Correct dimensions are:
14" high
3 1/2" wide at the top
4 1/2" wide at the base
This is interesting, seems it may be both Harrach and Moser

Good job!! Yes, it does, czhechman called it. With regard to black light, u just learned that a LOT of glass (especially these kind of "frosted" glass colors for lack of a better term) were also made with uranium, I would had never thought to test anything but what I know. But I found that uranium is many kinds.
I have found myself looking outside of CW when trying to find something only to find it right where I started!! Glad you found it =)
Sorry for typos, only working with one hand
No worry on the Typos LOL. Yes I have been searching this piece for years. I'm excited that I finally found out what it is. Found this site as well and just helped even more as it shows photos of a piece like it under UV and looks just like mine did.
