Sterling Silver Filigree, Carnelian Shell Cameo & Black Onyx Flip Ring.
Victorian Era. A popular style for this time, considered a two-in-one ring.
Now I do not know for sure about the following, but it sounds logical to me so I'll repeat it and let you decide :)
I read the statement that the difference between the left facing and the right facing cameo was the artist being left handed or right handed. And since most people were forced to use their right hand, as it was not "acceptable", this is why you will see more right faced cameos.

No reference to right or left, but I was told that cameos were portraits of available young noble ladies. They were commissioned and sent with a messenger by the family in hopes of securing a husband of good consequence. Whatdayathink?
