Amtex Electric Wrist Watch from around 1950's.
I don't really know much about watches and this one does work- definitley needs cleaning and a new band.
I like that you are able to see the movement (Japan) and I also like where the crown sits.
Don't know any of the technical details, came across it and thought I'd share it with the watchies :)
Love it....may dad had something like that too!!
Did you get the other??
Yes, Thank you!
Good Day shareurpassion, first "Thanks" for the package, it arrived today. And second, I would have to dig deep in info here, but believe these type "Electric" watches weren't produced til the mid 60's, not 100% on that, but 99.5% sure.
Thanks for sharing this variant
An electric watch is a first generation electrically powered watch which first appeared in 1957. It was popular before the invention of quartz watch in the 1970s. Their timekeeping element was either a traditional balance wheel or a tuning fork, driven electromagnetically by a solenoid powered by a battery. The hands were driven mechanically through a wheel train.
I did little digging lol,
Well said Kerry! Thank you, I obviously couldn't have done a better job! I appreciate that and you are very welcome!!!
kerry, I actually have a lot of watches I might post, please feel free to add any input you wish...I just don't really have the interest to research them. In fact, I have maybe 3 that I will keep and plan to disburse the rest somewhere :)
Anyone else that wants to add their knowledge is also welcome!
Thanks again!
Thank you for all the loves:
agh, racer, geo, vet, & mike!
It's funny cuz I didn't notice how dirty it really was until after the photos! Despite all of it, it shines as if no dirt at all was on it. Maybe if I get the time, I'll clean it up and reshoot, then edit just so you can see how pretty this really is!
